Who knew you had to go all the way up north to get decent dim sum in the UK! I certainly didn't. I'm just glad to know there actually is decent Chinese food somewhere on this island kingdom. There are two menus for dim sum. One is a tick box menu in Chinese only, the other is a laminated card that has English and Chinese, but is not as extensive as the Chinese only one. Just an FYI. Most of the standard stuff is in the English menu, but if you don't see it, make sure to ask because they probably do have it just isn't listed. Attentive and very helpful staff. This place is more than decent, it's great. I'd definitely come here more often if I didn't live in the so many hours away.

first dim sum place in manchester since i arrived! i really loved the atmosphere and the service here! i was here for lunch with two friends, one of which could speak cantonese and i could as well! we had a stack of menus but mainly chose dim sum and it was helpful to have both the chinese and english menu!! we ordered quite a few dishes and ended up taking a few left overs but overall we thought the food was good and the service was amaze! they're very efficient and there was always someone ready to come when we needed something! it was a very wholesome place for friends or family to eat and spend time talking to one another! it's very convenient to have the supermarket downstairs as well!

I love this place but sometime the food can be hit or miss. But this time the food was amazing since we went there just as it is open around 12pm. We were like the 6th tables or something like that. Top left: #菜肉餃 - Stuffed with vegetable and prawn meat dumpling. This has more vegetables than prawns. If you want mostly prawns inside then I would recommend ordering Har Gau(#蝦餃). Top right: #潮州粉果 - Stuffed with meat and vegetable mostly would be with water chestnut and Chinese chive and peanuts with a rich gravy sauce. Front: #薑蔥牛肉買: Beef minced with spring onion dumpling wrapped with tofu pastry. It is also coated with a nice ginger and spring onion sauce. We ordered 9 dishes from deep fried, steam and chung fun dishes costed us £25.90. I gave it a 4 stars because when we finished they gave us a bill without asking. I guess they were desperate for our table to be free.

One of my fave places to eat because their food is always on point and never disappoint! This place is my go to if I want dumplings and siomai. It's a pretty popular place especially on Sundays during lunch time so make sure you come early if you don't want to wait long for a table. This place has various types of siomai S and dumplings. I'm not sure about the names cause it's all in Chinese, but it offers shrimp and look siomai, pork/beef dumplings, pork steam buns, taro fried dumpling, and many more. They are all tasty, come in fours, and cost around £2 a serving. There are many types of noodle dishes- Fried noodles with meat or seafood or noodles in soup. We ordered the special noodle which was fried noodles with seafood and vegetables. It's a really tasty dish with crunch noodles and a thick creamy sauce with a mix of seafood and vegetables. I normally just come here for dumplings, siomai, and noodle dishes but they also have various types of dishes. The staff work hard to get the food out fairly quickly and are attentive. If you're craving for really tasty, value for money, authentic Chinese food, then you'll have to try this place! The only negative thing about this place is the parking. It has a small parking area and can be cramp so come early!

Tai Pan is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Manchester. I love their Dim Sum, there are over 20 different choices, my favorite is fried fish cake which I order every time I go there. Dim Sum is usually served before 5pm. Their dishes are not bad either. I go there with my Chinese friends all the time, usually for lunch. Other times when I go with my non-Chinese friends, they enjoy their food too. Another good thing is that they have free parking downstairs outside the Chinese supermarket. Although the price for goods in the supermarket are quite expensive compared to the ones in China Town.

A great venue for a great lunch. I'll be honest with you that being a country boy from the ol' Isle of Man, Dim Sum probably wasn't something I ever thought I'd be eating for brunch. In fact I think brunch is still some way off being introduced back home but that's beside the point... Dim sum kicks ass as a brunch option! Arranged by all star Yelper Natalie W, 10 of us headed down for a selection of pork, prawn, duck and all sorts of sides. I loved the bean curd rolls and the prawn dumplings - and when the desserts came I could have eaten a million custard buns! With all of us drinking our own body weight in Jasmine tea and eating to the point of collapse - £10 a head with tip really didn't seem too bad on the grand scheme of things for what was amazing food and a great lunch with friends. Special shout out to Andy Y for helping us make some killer choices on the menu - good knowledge dude! I look forward to more dim sum brunches and going back to Tai pan sometime soon.

Really good Chinese restaurant with very handy car parking. It also has a large chinese supermarket. At busy times it can be abit crazy and if you go e.g. Sunday lunch you could be waiting awhile for the "dim sum" trolleys going around to get to your table. It could be so busy that its all run out by the time it gets to you!

It's located in a purpose-built space on Upper Brook Street to the south of the city centre near the University and has a large free car park. This is one of Manchester's largest restaurants seating 300 people and is the first of the successful Chinese concept supermarkets -meets-restaurants. The food is classic Cantonese most of the staff are from Hong Kong and the dim sum here is a specialty. They have a large selection of dim sum presented on a separate menu divided into sweet steamed, and fried. The food and service are excellent, it maybe slightly pricier than the rest , but it's well worth it. Tai pan also offer good-value business lunches on week days at bargain price of £5.95.
